Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Would Be On My Syllabus if I Taught Contemporary YA 101

This is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where each week bloggers share a list of books for the prompt given. So hopefully I'll have a new list to share with you all each week!

This Week's Topic: Top Ten Books That Would Be On My Syllabus if I Taught Contemporary YA 101

Contemporary YA was my first love and will always have a special place in my heart. Throughout my life, I have read A LOT of contemporary YA. I teach 10th grade English and I want my students to see how amazing reading is and how many good stories are out there. So here are 10 contemporary YA books that I would love to have my students read to see how amazing the genre really is

1. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
2. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
3. Open Road Summer by Emery Lord

4. Crash Into You by Katie McGarry
5. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
6. Just One Day by Gayle Forman

7. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
8. Waiting For You by Susane Colasanti

10. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

  3. I could use a class on Contemporary YA 101. I've been getting into it more this year. I've read a few of the books on your list but I definitely need to read some more. Great list!

  4. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is great blog. A great read.
